John Haney Software
My early shareware programs for Mac OS Classic (1997–2001), recovered from the Wayback Machine.
Before Apps From Outer Space, before iOS, before any of this — I made small Mac programs in the late 90s and posted them on a personal site at home.stlnet.com/~haney, and later at johnhaney.com. Most of the original site is gone. The programs themselves were almost lost too: a 2002 Wayback snapshot pointed at icons and binaries that hadn't actually been archived.
It turns out the earlier ~haney site was archived, with the binaries intact. So here they are.
What's in this section
Six programs. Five are the surviving public releases — small Mac apps from 1997 and 1998, plus Physics Face from 1999. The sixth, superCribbage, was a Computer Science semester project that got a marketing page but never shipped publicly.
Each program page below has the original program icon (recovered from the 1998–2000 site), a short capture of the program running in an emulated Mac (via InfiniteMac), the original description copy where it survived, and the .sit or .sea.bin download as it sat on my old shareware page.
Run them in your browser
You don't need a vintage Mac to play these. InfiniteMac's Mac OS 7.6 (1997) build runs a full Mac OS Classic instance in your browser — the right era for these programs. Drag a .sit or .sea.bin from below onto the emulated desktop, expand it (StuffIt Expander ships on the disk image), and double-click the app. Same workflow as it would have been on a Power Mac in 1998.
